Code Breaking In WWII
GERMANS AND CODE BREAKING
Code braking was mainly used by Germans in the beginning. They had created a machince known as the Enigma. German codes had failed since the British had gotten a hold of their machine and cracked what Germans thought to be "unbreakable" codes.
GREAT BRITAIN AND CODE BREAKING
In the 1930's the Enigma was smuggled into Great Britian. It endabled the British to decode German's secret messages during World War II. These codes gathered by Great Britain gave information that could help their flires of the Royal Air Force quickly attack on the enemy since they knew exactly what the Germans were doing and planning ahead of schedule. That way they would be ready when the time came.
OFFICERS AND CODE BREAKING
After the past code breaking techniques had failed, officers of the military forces were the only ones to create the keys and codes.
This was effective until two years latre when the armies had broken in seprate parts.
CIPHERS
The most often used type of code-breaking is cryptography. In 1918 Aruthur Scherbuis created ciphering device.
Messages or ciphers were decoded by the cryptographers who solved the codes or the ciphering device.
WHY IS CODE BREAKING A TURNING POINT IN HISTORY
Encrypting messaged and code breaking has been around for a while. Without Germans Enigma decode device Great Britain wouldn't have had an idea of what Germans were planning and without that Germany might have gotten what they wanted to take over. Encrypting and code breaking have been around since the World War and is still used by the government today.
